What is your immune system?

To clarify, your immune system is the protector of your body from viruses and bacteria. 

It works by recognising the difference between your body’s cells and invaders, thus working to eradicate any harmful invaders that could cause harm.   

However, concerns can arise if your immune system mistakenly distinguishes your cells as invaders and attacks them instead.

What makes up your immune system?

The integral parts consist of ~

  • Thymus
  • Bone marrow
  • Spleen
  • Lymph system
  • White blood cells
  • Antibodies
  • Bone marrow
  • Hormones
  • Complement system – Plasma proteins

Boosting your immune system.

This is a term that we hear often however, boosting your immune system does not just mean changing your supplements or increasing them. It is a complex system. It requires a combination of nutrient-dense food, hydration, high-quality supplements, calming your nervous system and movement to be at its best.

So, how can you make a difference?

My Story 

Following the birth of my son, I was ill with Strep B (Group B streptococcal infection). I was diagnosed about a week after his birth and I had not been home 24hr from the hospital before I had to return. Every day my blood was taken at 3 am to ensure that I could have another dose of antibiotics.

Upon leaving the hospital I knew that my immune system needed boosting. I started taking supplements and herbal medicine.

However, things did not change straight away because I needed to take into consideration sleephydration, movement (Yoga & Exercise), Relaxationnutrient-dense food, and reducing my toxic load.

In summary, it took me a few years to get the balance right for me. I would suggest that you take time in researching what is going to support you, and know that you do not need to do this on your own. There is a wealth of information and knowledge that surrounds you. You just need to take the first step.
